Who else loves that spicy scent in the air during autumn walks? The Autumn Edition from Port Askaig wonderfully captures it. Alongside piquant bacon spice and fruity cheese notes, the rich aroma of cherry liqueur, salty and also tart-sweet notes of flambéed tomatoes set the mood for autumn enjoyment.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: The sweet spice of Wensleydale cranberry cheese develops into smoky bacon crisps. This is followed by delicious cherry liqueur and the heavy juiciness of flambéed Christmas pudding.
Palate: A mélange of juicy red grapes and smouldering wood shavings, with a hint of dried seaweed. Cherry tomatoes that have been in the oven a little too long, and hints of hawthorn berries.
Finish: Salty and spicy notes linger – reminiscent of Tabasco sauce and smoked chipotle peppers. Hints of berry tea and stewed plums.
