Each single cask bottling by founder Andrew Symington was supposed to bear the signature of a prominent personality. Before he could find a worthy signatory, his first single cask Scotch whisky – a 1968 Glenlivet – was already sold out. Symington then abandoned the signature idea, but the brand name remained. His warehouse holds more than 10,000 casks – some from distilleries that no longer exist or that normally only produce whisky for blends. This includes North British from Edinburgh. Single grain bottlings from grain distilleries are extremely rare.
