Tasting Notes:

Nose: Opens to reveal citrus notes, vanilla cheesecake, rhubarb and butterscotch with delicate peat smoke.
Palate: Freshly baked Bramley apple pie and sweet salted caramel. The peat is fruitful yet well integrated. A fresh coastal influence brings back memories of a stormy, bustling, sea-sprayed harbor.
Finish: Long and creamy. Notes of toasted oak and pencil shavings give way to a lingering sweet, fruity peat smoke.
Cask types: 80% Bourbon casks and 20% Sherry casks.

With the "Peat In Progress" series, the Campbeltown distillery Kilkerran is breaking new ground. Following the well-known "Work In Progress" editions, new, exciting accents from the distillery await us. Batch No. 3 - Heavily Peated - was bottled at cask strength and clearly differentiates itself from the Core Range with a strong smoky note.

The New Star of Campbeltown

The original Glengyle distillery was founded in 1873 by William Mitchell and produced a typical Campbeltown Malt for half a century before closing its doors forever in 1925. Forever? No, because around the turn of the millennium, the founder's descendants decided to rebuild the distillery. The production buildings were completed at the end of 2002, and one after another the "Mashtun", "Stills", "Mill" and the other equipment necessary for whisky production arrived. On March 25, 2004, the Glengyle distillery was officially opened by Winifred Ewing and Hedley Wright. The Mitchells, proud of the long tradition of whisky making in the Campbeltown region, chose the name "Kilkerran" for their single malt. The name is derived from the Gaelic "Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain" and refers to an early Christian settlement of Saint Kerran, on the grounds of today's town of Campbeltown. 5 years after the opening, we offered you a taste of this newborn whisky with the first official bottling "Work in Progress". Now that this has sold out, we can now offer you further single malts. These are lightly peated, twice distilled golden yellow single malts. Strong, sweet fruit on the nose, with slightly peppery aromas. Further fruity sweetness on the body. Truly a "work in progress", a whisky that continues to develop, full of vitality and aromas. The finish pampers the tongue with its incomparable aromas of sweet vanilla.
