Embra is Holyrood's second release. The single malt will appeal to "peatheads" – and it is also the answer for anyone who hasn't tried peated whisky yet.
While it captures classic, powerful smoky aromas and textures, it is balanced by chocolate, biscuits, and light fruits, making it particularly accessible to new whisky drinkers.
For this, Embra was distilled from 56 percent peated malt and triple-aged in a combination of First Fill Bourbon Barrels, Islay Quarter Casks, and New American Oak Barrels.
Named after a colloquial term for Edinburgh, Embra is adorned with an illustrative design inspired by depictions of Saint Leonard. This is because Holyrood is not only located on St. Leonard's Lane in Edinburgh's Southside, but St. Leonard was also the patron saint of coopers.
