Legacy & Classification
House: Thomas Hine & Co., founded in 1763, officially named in 1817 by Thomas Hine (an Englishman based in Jarnac). To this day, it is the only Cognac house to hold a Royal Warrant from Queen Elizabeth II.
Designation: VSOP – meaning the youngest eau-de-vie in the blend has aged for at least four years, with actual aging being longer as it is a Fine Champagne blend, sourced from Grande and Petite Champagne Crus.
Use & Pairings
Developed with cocktail culture in mind – an elegant, aromatic option from Hine for mixed drinks like Sidecar, Champagne cocktails and more.
However, it can also be enjoyed neat or on the rocks, many consumers enjoy it solo.
Pairs well with light desserts – especially vanilla custard, crème brûlée – or with fresh seafood and even sashimi when served chilled or on the rocks.
Taste Profile
Appearance: Deep amber with copper highlights
Bouquet: Floral – notes of jasmine, iris, acacia, white grape blossoms – as well as apricot, honey, and vanilla
Palate: Smooth, medium-bodied; flavors of apricot, peach, crème caramel, vanilla, mild baking spices, hazelnut, and marzipan
Finish: Clean and approachable with light spice and medium length – not particularly complex, but very elegant
