Tasting Notes:
Nose: Fruit cake, raisins and mocha with honey, cinnamon and coconut.
Palate: Layers of dark chocolate, fruit cake, raisins, honey and figs with syrup, orange peel and nutmeg.
Billy Walker has fulfilled a dream: The industry legend has created a proud 30-year-old bottling from the vintage stocks of the GlenAllachie Distillery. For the optimal interplay of distillery character and wood, he chose a combination of 1989 and 1990 vintages, which, apart from a small amount of Chinquapin Virgin Oak casks, matured primarily in former PX and Oloroso Hogsheads and Puncheons. A total of nine casks were blended by Walker for the first batch of The GlenAllachie 30 y. o. – the oldest and most prestigious core-range bottling from the independent Speyside distillery.
Bottled at cask strength at 48.9%, non-chillfiltered and in its natural mahogany hue, the 30-year-old offers sherry-matured sophistication and GlenAllachie in perhaps its purest form: notes of fruit cake and dark chocolate merge with the typical notes of soft honey. Connoisseurs can look forward to a new bottling annually.
The first batch is limited to 2,000 bottles worldwide!
