They are called Pepin III or Henry IV: The whiskies of the Hammerschmiede brand Emperor's Way are named after kings and emperors. In honor of the royal leaders, the Harz spirits manufacturer has created its Peated Hercynian Single Malt to be intensely smoky with a fine fruity note. The strictly limited bottlings are made from 100 percent peated malt with up to 35 ppm.

Currently, Henry the Lion holds the throne of the series. The third official release matured for eight to four years in hogsheads and small octaves that were previously filled with Pedro Ximénez sherry and the rare, excellent premium Palo Cortado sherry. The flavor profile of this single malt, limited to 1,180 bottles, delivers on the promise of the cask type and size: fruit and spice – full-bodied and intense.
