Nose: Delicate peat smoke mixed with abundant honey sweetness greets us, followed by vanilla & the freshness of light fruits, raisins, and mineral notes.Palate: Vanilla sweetness & pear slices, enveloped by fine peat smoke, then a salty note that transitions into spice, a hint of dried fruit, and maltiness.Finish: Medium-long, light peat flavors linger, slightly dry, at the end bitter chocolate, mint, and wet woodFor Tilo Schnabel, the 5-year-old Peated Blended Malt COAST TO COAST quite aptly embodies two aspects that are personally important to him when bottling for THE CASKHOUND: to offer discerning whisky enthusiasts honest, unpretentious drinking whiskies with a lot of heart at a fair price – and to play with some traditional ideas of what a whisky should be. The COAST TO COAST is a successful mélange of salty, peat-smoke-laden Hebridean air and the spiciness and depth of the Highlands – rounded off by delicate sherry notes that subtly embrace the blend with fruity finesse. Not a whisky of extremes, neither a peat monster nor a sherry bomb – but a successful everyday dram in the best sense, that one can enjoy and discover… and love!
