Veuve Clicquot is no stranger to color. Therefore, the latest collaboration with the famous Italian artist Paola Paronetto – known for her visionary work with colors and textures – is particularly inspiring.
OTTANIO is one of six refined pastel shades that Paola has selected from her own color palette to convey the optimism and harmony emanating from the 2015 vintage of Veuve Clicquot's famous La Grande Dame champagne.
ASSEMBLAGE AND ORIGIN:
An exceptional Pinot vintage in an outstanding year. The 2015 season was very warm in Champagne, with low rainfall and plenty of sunshine, resulting in concentrated and structured wines. Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2015 is made from a thoughtful blend of 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay, grown in eight historic Grand Cru sites. The vineyards – Verzenay, Verzy, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Aÿ, Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger – are among the most prestigious in the region.
Taste:
More complex aromas emerge on the palate: dried apricot, hazelnuts, honey and rock candy. Silky textures give the wine personality, elegance and character. The depth and power developed through aging.
Color:
A beautiful, golden color with bright pearls.
Aroma:
On the nose, notes of white flowers such as jasmine, honeysuckle and vine blossoms appear first, followed by fruitier nuances of apple, pear and peach. Some notes of freshly sliced almonds and frangipane cream complete the bouquet.
Serving suggestions:
Serve La Grande Dame 2015 with seasonal, regional and fresh produce, such as a salad with lobster carpaccio, citrus fruits and pumpkin from the garden, to perfectly highlight its elegance and freshness. Or try it with pea gnocchi with chervil sauce and green apple.
