Rums from Appleton Estate have long been firmly established on the connoisseur's map. With the Appleton Hearts Collection, the traditional Jamaican distillery now shows what rarities are still hidden in one of the world's largest rum inventories. This limited series not only expresses Appleton's full potential, but also the passion of two living legends of the rum world: Joy Spence, Appleton's Master Blender and the first woman to ever hold this position in the spirits industry, and the renowned connoisseur Luca Gargano.

Together they selected three outstanding rums that have caused hearts to flutter among rum lovers since the series was announced. The Hearts Collection is the first of its kind in the distillery's history and consists of 100 percent pot-still distilled single mark rums. Distilled in 1994, 1995, and 1999, the rums in this exclusive series were given generous maturation times in the tropical climate of Jamaica's Nassau Valley. After 21 to 26 years of maturation, twelve casks of the same marque were blended for the Appleton Hearts Collection. Two of the three marques are identical - exactly which ones remains Joy Spence's secret.

Discerning connoisseurs will find all available details on the elegantly embossed label for the bottlings, each limited to 3,000 bottles. This includes: The content of so-called congeners. These are components such as esters or aldehydes that are produced during fermentation in addition to alcohol - and significantly contribute to the aroma of, for example, rum. With a very high congener content of 1184 g/100 LAA (= grams per hectolitre of pure alcohol) in the 1994 rum, 1440 g/100 LAA in the 1995 bottling, and 855 g/100 LAA in the 1999 vintage, the Appleton Hearts Collection promises highly aromatic moments of pleasure. The versatile taste components of these Jamaican treasures unfold unrestrictedly and, unusually for Appleton, at powerful cask strengths of 60 or 63% vol.
