2021 Côtes du Rhône Réserve Rouge Magnum - Famille Perrin

The 2021 vintage marks a fresher vintage, similar to those we experienced in the 1980s/1990s. It is also a year characterized by vineyard work, as the measures taken by winegrowers and staff were crucial to the quality of this vintage. The year, marked by adverse weather conditions - above all the frost event in April and the rainfall that interrupted the harvest - indeed demanded great dedication from our vineyard staff at all times. Their attention and commitment bore fruit: a promising, wonderfully balanced vintage, characterized by great freshness, is now emerging.

Winemaking:
The optimal harvest time was determined by monitoring ripeness levels and tasting the grapes. Upon arrival at the cellar, the grapes were sorted and destemmed. Fermentation took place in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks ranging from 150 hl to 190 hl capacity. Extraction was carried out by careful pumping over, depending on what the tasting revealed. After racking and malolactic fermentation, the wines were partly filled into large wooden foudres, partly into barriques, and partly into stainless steel tanks, where they matured for one year.

Location:
This wine is a blend of Grenache (mainly from our Prébois vineyard in Orange), and Syrah from the nearby north (from our estate in Vinsobres) and Mourvèdre.

Grape varieties:
Grenache: 40%, Mourvèdre: 40%, Syrah: 20%

Color:
Beautiful, intense, deep red color with violet reflections

Nose:
On the nose, the wine is particularly expressive with aromas of fresh cherry, cinnamon, and pepper.

Palate:
On the palate, it is wonderfully balanced, very smooth, and with very elegant tannins.

Serving suggestion:
Serve at 18 °C with beef, lamb, or poultry.
