Chapoutier's Le Pavillon has regularly received high ratings in recent years. However, it is not a wine for early enjoyment. One should wait at least another ten years with this Syrah monument so that its young tannins can soften somewhat. Then its typical, lush and dense aroma and its palate-filling taste with piquant spiciness and firm texture will know how to delight. Le Pavillon is more than a wine, it is a cultural asset.
Aroma and Taste:
The color is strong violet/blue. The 2018 Ermitage le Pavillon is a lush, full-bodied beauty, combining fruity notes of blueberries with savory notes of black olives and intertwining them with rich, earthy notes. On the palate it is almost creamy and finishes with gentle waves of velvety tannins. The still young Chapoutier Le Pavillon Ermitage 2018 is a powerful, elegant and harmonious wine that will develop over several decades. (R. Parker)

The 2018 Le Pavillon Ermitage vintage contains 100% Syrah grapes and was aged for 18 - 20 months in oak barrels (30% new).
