With its first bottling in 2011, the Young Rye, the distillery on Denmark's west coast gained international recognition. Since autumn 2020, the Stauning Standard range, consisting of RYE, KAOS, and SMOKE (previously PEAT), has established a completely new design and a larger 0.7-liter bottle. For the whiskies with clear Danish characteristics, the distillery sources from its immediate surroundings: locally grown barley and rye, peat from the Klosterlund Museum, which documents Denmark's peat extraction, and heather from the wild landscape of West Jutland.

The distillation over an open fire imparts deep, complex aromas to both smoky and non-smoky Stauning New Make. The 24 small, direct-fired copper pot stills are as much a trademark for the Danish distillers as their in-house malting floor. The experimental spirit with which they combine pre-industrial methods with modern ones, some of which are their own creations, such as the malt turner, makes their Danish whiskies so interesting for connoisseurs worldwide. Since 2018, RYE, KAOS, and PEAT or SMOKE have no longer been produced in the small slaughterhouse, the birthplace of Stauning, but in the iconic building next door.
