At MacNair's, they are convinced that blending allows for true creativity. The keys to success are experimentation and pushing boundaries. Like Harvey MacNair once did, the distillers search worldwide with great expertise and experience for the best casks – their foundation for outstanding whisky. Currently, Bourbon Barrels, unused Virgin Oak Hogsheads, and former red wine and sherry casks (Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso) are used in the production of the blends. The whisky from the "Lum Reek" series matures in them for up to 21 years.
The jury of the World Whisky Awards is also convinced that the Lum Reek 21 Years is a truly outstanding Blended Malt Whisky. This year, the oldest blend in the Lum Reek Range wins the "Best Scotch Blended Malt" award, making it the Category Winner in this segment!
