Dark and slightly mysterious, our 18-year-old Longrow has a complex nose that reveals a peaty aroma reminiscent of dunnage warehouses.
The nose: A complex nose: Sweet fruits, citrus, peaches and orange peel at first, before a gentle, earthy, peaty aroma emerges.
On the palate: Rich and very, very tasty. Well-balanced. Dark chocolate, creamy coffee and gingerbread are prominent, followed by rhubarb and vanilla custard.
The finish: Long and sweet, a hint of typical Longrow peat smoke, combined with more chocolate and some dried fruit.
Distillery Information:
The original Longrow Distillery was built by John Ross in 1824 on the street of the same name in the town of Campbeltown. At that time, there were over 30 distilleries on the Kintyre Peninsula, which was a stronghold of illegal distillers. But after only 72 years, the distillery was closed. In 1973, the Springbank Distillery revived the "Longrow" legend: For the first time, they produced a "Longrow" again, according to a special secret recipe. This rarity has been produced once a year since 1989. The special thing about Longrow is its strong smoky note, which is created by 48 hours of malting with Islay peat.
