From Kingsbarns Distillery, whose "Dream to Dram" bottling was recently named Best Scotch Lowland Single Malt at the World Whisky Awards, there will be a special cask strength edition released once a year, titled "Family Reserve". The casks for this are personally selected by Isabella Wemyss, and the bottlings in this series are intended to provide an impression of how Kingsbarns Single Malt matures.

The first edition is based on the recipe for Dream to Dram (90% Fresh Bourbon and 10% STR-Cask) but was bottled at 59.2%, in an edition of only 3000 bottles, a good quarter of which came to Germany.

The Tasting Notes:

Nose:
Floral on the nose with jasmine and honeysuckle. Honey and mango, banana, vanilla-saffron cream, gummy bears and strawberry sauce.
Taste:
Shortbread with sugar, exotic fruit like mango and papaya, desiccated coconut. Develops darker aromas and complex spice.
Finish:
Intense, yet fresh with luscious fruit and spicy oak.
We were already impressed by the great quality of the "Family Reserve Edition 2020" and found an extraordinary amount of exotic fruit as well as a nice spice and complexity. The alcohol is well integrated and provides an intense aroma.
